The Tablet Holder

With New Years just around the corner, you may wish to upgrade your home theater to take advantage of the many exciting options available to enhance your entertainment experience.  Among the many accessories which can help you do this, is the universal tablet holder.  This outstanding feature attaches easily to any accessory POD, allowing you to connect a tablet to your chair for individual browsing, or a full-blown hookup to your TV screen for a virtually endless array of viewing options.  Why be limited by a tiny tablet or laptop screen, when you can tap into the power of the large screen and state-of-the-art sound system that you have so painstakingly assembled for your home theater?

There's no denying that the internet has opened up an entire universe of entertainment possibility, which goes far beyond basic cable or DVD options.  Youtube alone has become a virtual video library of quirky and unusual entertainment choices, from live music clips to news blooper compilations, stupid pet trick videos and much, much more.  It's easy to get lost for hours browsing from clip to clip, all available at your viewing whim.  Internet streaming services such as Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon Prime have also become extremely popular as of late, especially now that they have begun offering commercial-free original programming.  In an interesting new twist, some shows have begun offering entire seasons in bulk, leading to the phenomenon of viewers watching hours of episodes back-to-back. Beware: some of these programs, like House Of Cards and Orange Is The New Black, are highly critically acclaimed and enormously addicting.  Of course, many movies are also available to stream.

The internet has also become a paradise for "gamers", those who lose themselves in the increasingly elaborate and sophisticated worlds of video game fantasy.  This entertainment option has come a long way since Pac-Man or Super Mario, now offering characters, plotlines, and beguiling visual backdrops that are more akin to user-participation movies than games.  There are plenty of game sites out there catering to the booming industry, which feature everything from variations on classic puzzles and board games, to far more elaborate fare.  Most sites also allow you to play with other users worldwide, in one-on-one or group matchups.  Once again, you may find a dramatic difference between playing these games on a limited, small tablet or laptop screen, and being able to see them in the context of your home theater setup.

There are so many more options available with a tablet hookup--everything from sharing slide photo presentations of your latest family vacation, to posting your latest obsessions on Pinterest.  But how does all this endless fun begin?  There are two primary ways of hooking a tablet to your TV screen.  The first step involves getting the adjustable tablet holder which attaches easily to your seat's armrest.  There are then two ways to go from here: you can use your home wi-fi to connect the tablet to your screen, or you can use a cable to connect to the HDMI (High Definitiion MultiMedia Interface) ports on your tablet and TV.  For the fastest connections, a cable is preferable.  Once hooked in, the only problem from that point on will be figuring out just what to do, among the thousands of available choices.  One thing is for sure--you will never, ever be at a loss for entertainment, no matter what your mood or what guests you may have.

Holiday Films For The Ages

It's the holidays, which means its time to show off your home theater for many a gathering with friends and family for some holiday fun.  What to watch?  The question is more difficult than it may appear, as some movies will be overly-familiar to audiences, while other cult classics are barely known.  What follows is a mini-guide to the best holiday films, past and present; the kind of audience who will be watching should inform what you choose to regale them with.

A Christmas Carol (1938): The original film adaptation of this Dickens classic is still the best, and while its production may appear antiquated, it manages to deliver where it counts even after all these decades.  The black and white imagery even gives it a ghostly, hallowed quality, much like that other holiday staple "It's A Wonderful Life".  This is an instance where the story and message is so timeless, that even jaded children raised on their XBox and iPhone will pause to find out what all the fuss is over (and if they won't, there's a modern 2009 adaptation for them, too).  Besides, the holidays are about tradition, and a viewing of the original "Christmas Carol" has been part of that tradition for so long, why stop now?

Toy Story (1995): one of the first and best Pixar films became an almost instant holiday classic that spawned several hugely successful sequels and a gigantic marketing franchise.  This film is perfect for those with smaller children, and does not seem to age with the passing of time.   Pixar also used then state-of-the-art technology to enhance the picture and sound, meaning that it will still look good on today's uber-smart screens.  But beyond all that, it has what is at the core of every successful holiday film: a heartwarming, uplifting story with many memorable characters, that is syrupy (but who doesn't succumb to feel-good vibes during the holiday season?) and yet somehow avoids being overly-trite.

It's A Wonderful Life (1946): This still gets this blogger's vote as the greatest holiday film ever made.  The storyline is as classic as any classic novel, and the performances are extraordinarily powerful in presence and scope; it's as if Santa himself sprinkled a kind of otherworldly magic all over the celluloid.  The film hit the holiday bullseye so well that it became an overplayed staple of the season--but if you haven't seen it in a while, give it another chance, especially with a chance to see it in all of its glory in a deluxe home theater setup.

How The Grinch Stole Christmas (2000): this film did big at the box office while earning mixed reviews, but audiences have since had their say in making this a growing holiday tradition in the years since.  Jim Carrey delivers a typically aggressive, manic performance that transforms the flavor of the original animated version (a classic in its own right).  Seeing the popular response to this film, its critics have since changed their tune, and now the film appears on many "best holiday film" lists such as this one.

The Apartment (1960): looking for a lost holiday classic?  Billy Wilder's contemporary comedy "The Apartment" won the academy award for best picture in the year of it's release, and holds up surprisingly well today.  Shirley MacLaine certainly never topped her performance opposite Jack Lemmon, as their onscreen romance goes through several twists and turns throughout the film's length.  This is a mature mix of comedy and drama that was made for older viewers looking for something with a bit more depth, although older children have actually been known to enjoy it as well (never be put off by showing them a B&W film, assuming a child will reject it on principle--sometimes they will, but you might be surprised).

Simply call up Montage in the event of an accident and you will receive the full range of their services, from special cleaning products to expert customer service support that can tackle any range of furniture issues.

Because it's the holidays, you may want to give a complete home theater set as a gift to special friends, family, or loved ones.  If you make a purchase of $10,000 or more, simply enter the promo code on our site and receive $1,000 off of your total, which on a $10K purchase amounts to a whopping 10% discount (Palliser and Jaymar seats excluded).  $1,000 dollars off of your purchase is like getting one or two chairs entirely for free!

While Palliser seats are excluded from these earlier deals, they get their own exciting promotions.  For any Palliser order over $2,000, you will receive the same free Montage Extended Warranty, which will protect your seat for up to five years.  Or, if you make a Palliser order worth $2,500 or more, you can type in the promo code when prompted, and receive free white glove delivery of the products to your home.  This $199 value will allow a delivery agent to bring the chairs into your room, professionally set up the furniture and dispose of all the packaging material, so that you won't have to touch a thing! For those who don't want to deal with moving heavy boxes from the curbside or having to assemble the furniture themselves, this is the perfect solution, now free with any Palliser purchase over $2,500.

Finally, 4seating offers one of Seatcraft's exclusive line of chairs, The Barcelona, at a super-savings of 20% off.  This handsome contemporary home theater seat comes in premium top-grain leather, with lighted cup holders and a chaiselounger footrest that provides full head-to-toe support.  Simply type in the promo code on the site and receive this deluxe item at an amazing value, thanks to the guiding spirit of the holiday season.  This is just the beginning, however--keep checking back with 4seating for more exciting promo specials as they happen in the coming holiday weeks!

Which Colors?

Color coordinating your home theater is an exciting but sometimes daunting task.  Home theater seats come in so many different colors--black, brown, red, burgundy, white, grey--that sometimes it's a challenge to pick just which colors, and combinations of colors, will best reflect the particular ambience you wish to impart to your theater.  When added to the dozens of different theater decor accessories 4seating offers, the task can seem especially bewildering. What follows are a few simple tips that should make designing the perfect home theater a relatively painless process!

Before choosing colors, one should always refer back to the purpose of your home theater.  Is it a designated get-together spot for friends and parties?  Is it a family affair, with children and pets among your most loyal audience?  Perhaps it's to be used for romantic evenings with a loved one, a glass of wine, and a deluxe Blu-Ray edition of The Way We Were.  Or maybe you want it to fulfill all these functions, and more.  Whatever the case, the function of your theater is going to dictate the colors with which you choose to decorate it.  Each color creates its own mood, so it's best to look at each of the colors available and see how they fit in to each design scheme:

BLACK: Black is the holy grail of color coordination, as it can be paired with just about any other color.  Those who wish to use their theater for family occasions will find it especially useful in hiding stains, pet hair, and spills.  It can also project both a classic and a contemporary look, as it never seems to go out of fashion.  If you choose black as the color for your home theater seat, however, you should avoid painting the walls of your theater black as it will result in an over-saturated look.  If you do so, however, you can enliven the room by placing other decor items (paintings, columns, accents, panels) in brighter colors for contrast.  Red, blue, and white are especially good colors to coordinate with black.

RED: Red is an ideal marquee color that evokes the golden age of cinema.  This flashy color will enliven any get-together, providing a festive ambience.  Red seating against creamy white walls will create a startling art-deco look, while red against black will transport you right back to the movie theaters of the 20s and 30s.  Children may also find red seats to be a fun alternative, although as with adults you will want to get their opinion in advance.  The Excalibur from Seatcraft is a premium choice for seating that comes in this bright shade.

BROWN: Brown is an earthy tone that can be combined most readily with black, white, or green.  It oozes a homely, comforting warmth that, like black, can also make it ideal for virtually any setup.  With brown seats, plants located at discreet corners of your theater can help accentuate the natural feel.  Also like black, dark brown shades can be used to hide stains and spills. The Grenada from Seatcraft is a beautiful chair that comes in a richly hued dark brown leather.

BURGUNDY: Burgundy is a darker shade of red which can range in tone from a purplish character to a reddish-brown.  This color is ideal for those looking for a more idiosyncratic tone than the usual white or black, while being more subdued than ordinary red.  Burgundy coordinates well with either white or black walls, depending on your taste, and can provide a touch of elegance to any home theater setup.  It is also a romantic color that will complement an evening with your loved one and a glass of wine.  The Gambler is an ideal home theater chair from Lane which comes in a burgundy shade option.

WHITE: White lends an airy sense of spaciousness to any room, although you need to be careful in matching it with other colors.  With white, lighter spring shades of blue, yellow, green, or pink are best, although a smartly contrasted white-on-black combination can also provide art-deco thrills.  White chairs against white walls creates its own particular effect, although as with black-on-black one needs to be careful about oversaturation.  A discreetly placed wall accent may be the perfect thing to break up the mood in such a case.  With white seats you should be especially mindful of stains, spills, and pet hair, so you might want to keep cleaning tools handy, or take advantage of 4seating's special Montage five-year warranty.

Home Theater Sectionals

Home theater sectionals serve a variety of functions which can greatly enhance the potential of any home theater. These multi-purpose sets can be configured in a number of different ways, catering to individual tastes and needs. The esteemed Seatcraft brand offers three distinct sectionals, each with its own look and character.  In examining these multi-purpose sets, you can get a better feel for which one is right for your home theater.

The Bella is constructed from a sturdy and largely stain-resistant black polyurethane, which gives it an ultramodern look.  Depending on the size and shape of your home theater, you can order the sectional with or without center seats, and with or without storage wedges.  The storage wedges provide a wide, handsome accent to the sectional, featuring plenty of space for two convenient cupholders on each, along with plenty of in-arm storage.  A typical three-piece set will feature two storage wedges, but depending on your space requirements you can customize the set to include one, both, or none as desired.  In this way, you can also create various loveseat and sofa configurations.  In addition, you can order the set without center seats.  The Bella also comes with padded headrests, as well as chaiselounger footrests on each end seat for full lower body support.  Those with extra storage needs can order an optional storage ottoman, in the same striking all-black contemporary design.

The Genesis sectional is manufactured with premium top-grain leather, for a luxury texture and appearance.  The overstuffed, highly comfortable seating also features padded armrests for an extra dimension of leisure.  The sectional comes with the same basic configuration options as the Bella, so that you can order the seat in an array of chair and storage wedge options.  The storage ottoman is also available, which provides room for items to be placed on top or inside. In addition, the Genesis is a sectional which features the recline option, including the chaiselounger footrest, on every seat.  It's all too easy to sink into this opulent set, whether its ordered as a row of two loveseat configuration, or a full blown four seat sectional with storage wedges!

The final model in Seatcraft's exclusive sectional line is the Vesta, which offers a slightly different setup to the Bella or Genesis. This set can be ordered in rows of two, three, or four, with each configuration featuring flip-down armrests with cupholders.  However, simply flip each armrest up and the row instantly transforms into a sofa (or, in a row of two, a loveseat). This convenient feature allows the Vesta to serve two functions at once, with ample storage space located in this case underneath the center section.  Padded headrests in top-grain leather material complete the picture, while wall-hugger seating allows the seat to recline just inches from any wall.  The gentle curvature of this sectional will also make it an attractive centerpiece to your home theater design.

Whether you desire wedge arms or fold-up arms, in-arm storage or under-seat storage, ottomans or chaiselounger footrests, a loveseat or a sofa, you are sure to find the perfect sectional for your needs among these exceptional offerings.

Five Reasons To Build A Home Theater

A home theater is a big investment.  For the time and money you put into such a venture, you will be expecting stellar results.  Here at 4seating we can give you the home theater of your dreams--and one that will pay continued dividends in years to come.  But before you make such a big decision, it's important to go over several of the key reasons why a home theater is well-worth the time and effort.

1) First and foremost, your home theater won't just be another room in the house.  We all place our TV sets and other entertainment devices in our living rooms--and when you build a home theater, those devices will be in it.  Thus, you are essentially moving the center of operations in your house to the home theater.  From this point on, it can be the central focus for gatherings of family and friends.  Any entertainment needs--TV, film, music--can be provided by a home theater, and a well-designed home theater can make it possible for casual conversation as well.  Loveseat sets can enhance the romance for couples, and many chairs come with convenient in-arm storage areas with which you can store any number of books, magazines, snacks, or other items for an all-in-one experience.

2) Next, with the way ticket prices at movie theaters are soaring these days, you will end up saving money in the long run.  No longer will you have to pay exorbitant prices any time you wish to experience a big screen thrill.  But it goes beyond that--movie theaters tend to gouge their audiences with outrageously inflated prices for unhealthy drinks and snacks as well.  With your home theater, you are in charge: every admission is free, and you can bring whatever you want to eat or drink.

3) In many ways, home theaters are actually superior to movie theaters, and it's not just about the ticket prices.  A key factor in one's enjoyment of a film is the seating--if you're not comfortable in your seat, it doesn't matter how good the movie is.  Stiff necks and stiff backs are not pleasant, and if you're taller or bigger than the movie seat allows, you will find yourself trying in vain to squeeze into an awkward position without bothering other members of the audience.  With a home theater, you have your choice from a wide selection of hundreds of theater seats offered by 4seating, which offer plush padding and a full recline that goes far beyond what even the best movie theaters can offer.  You can truly relax in the privacy of your own home, no screaming babies or beeping cell phones to distract you from what's on the screen.

4) With a home theater, you get to be the designer.  In the golden age of cinema, theaters were beautiful: they often emulated Greek, Roman, or Chinese designs, with artwork and paneling that was both ornate and pleasing to the eye.  Today's modern theaters are cold and functional looking, in comparison--but your own theater can be molded to any taste, from antique to futuristic.  Fortunately, 4seating is once again here to help, by offering a wide array of theater decor including columns, panels, and carpets with which you can custom-design the centerpiece of your home, at a great value.

5) Finally, a home theater offers privacy.  You can cuddle with a loved one, party with friends, or spend quality time with your children, all free from staring eyes.  Privacy is one of the main reasons many people want to build their own home theater, and when combined with the savings you will experience from avoidance of soaring ticket prices, it's a very attractive option.  Need to take a restroom break?  You can pause the screen any time you want.  You can do this with a regular home entertainment system as well, of course, but with a home theater, you will be experiencing the advantages of a big screen and luxurious theater seating that not only matches but surpasses what you will find in a movie theater.  So what are you waiting for?

The Madera

Seatcraft's Signature Leather 7000 series continues to delight with The Madera, a seat designed to offer luxury looks, luxury material, and luxury features at a superb value.  Everything about this chair is crafted with the utmost care, resulting in an experience that is immediately apparent upon sitting.  Even before you sit, the warmly inviting look of The Madera will please the eye.  Its casual contemporary style comes in muted brown or black colors that will blend effortlessly in to any decor, abetted by rich wooden accenting on the armrests that lends the chair its sense of naturalistic class.  The wooden accents are a popular feature unique to the Madera, which look even better in person than they do in product photos.  The overall effect mixes luxury opulence and an unpretentious amiability with ease.

The Madera matches its look with its high-grade Leather 7000 material.  Leather 7000 is exclusively hand-picked from the top 30% of top grain outer cow hides, for premium looks, texture, and comfort.  Leather itself is a renowned in the seating industry for its tough yet pliable texture, ease of maintenance, and plush appearance. The material actually improves in texture, comfort and appearance over time, as it conforms naturally to your body's contours.  But Leather 7000 goes further than this, by being carefully buffed and polished to remove any blemishes or textural imperfections, for the smoothest feel possible.  Top-grain leather doesn't get any better than this.

Leather 7000 is one of the primary highlights to this chair's overall sense of comfort, but it doesn't end there.  The Madera's plush, overstuffed headrests and full chaiselounger footrests ensure that your body stays fully supported, even as you sink into its folds.  Spacious seating gives one plenty of wiggle room, while a power recline option allows you to stay in any desired position with a simple button-press.  You can relax all the way to an almost flat position, yet the Madera can still be seated inches from the wall thanks to its special "wall-hugger" seating.  As with the best home theater seats, your body will feel so sumptuously relaxed and yet so fully supported, that you will barely notice you are in a chair!  Distracting discomforts like stiff necks and backs will be a thing of the past.

Finally, the Madera will make any home theater viewing a matter of full convenience, with everything you need for a great night's entertainment all within arm's reach.  LED lighted cupholders will provide a safe place for beverages, while ambient base lighting adds authentic marquee accents that will allow you or any guest to find your way in a darkened room.  Free added tray tables allow you to place anything you might need for the evening, from food and remote controls to books and tablets.  When you're done, simply place any items in the Madera's spacious in-arm storage compartments.   From its sleek wooden accents to the Leather 7000 material, chaiselounger footrests, power recline, tray tables and more, the Madera is everything a home theater chair can be.

Family Films For Summer

So it's still summertime, and you and your family still have some time on your hands. You've built the home theater, but the question remains: what to watch?  Sometimes, the dichotomy between what your kids want to watch, and what you want your kids to watch, can be Grand Canyon-sized.  Children, especially older children, are always looking for films above their "appropriate" age level, films that as a parent you will try your hardest to ban them from seeing.  You want films that will help them grow as people; they will see that as dull.  On the other hand, younger children are generally satisfied with G-rated fare.  If you have one older child and one younger one, the choice can be especially daunting if you are planning a night with the whole family.  Here are some films which may help with your dilemma:

DISNEY: There's a reason why Disney remains the go-to standard for family viewing; for 75 years now they have been churning out consistently high-quality fare that appeals to younger children, while cleverly sneaking in references that older kids and adults can enjoy.  Still, Disney is not infallible and some films are better than others.  You can never go wrong with established classics like Snow White, Pinnocchio, Sleeping Beauty, or Fantasia, which virtually define the term "timeless".  The animation of these older classics tends to be of a finer caliber than the computer-generated imagery of today.  Nonetheless, the new and wildly popular Pixar series of films contain a modern sensibility and sense of humor that will appeal to older children more than the classic films.  The Toy Story and Cars series have become modern-day standard bearers, while Wall-E is distinguished by an exceptionally sophisticated and mature plot, that is totally suitable for family viewing.

ACTION-ADVENTURE: The summer blockbuster can be a nightmare to navigate, since so many films place a priority on big-budget special effects and slick action sequences over plot and characterization: this may thrill the kids, but leave their brains on autopilot.  Intelligent and substantive action-adventure films are not unheard of, however, be they older classics such as Raiders Of The Lost Ark and Back To The Future, or some of the more acclaimed of the recent crop of superhero sagas including Spiderman 2 and The Dark Knight.  Be careful, however, as many of the rest of the superhero films vary wildly in quality; don't just leap for the next obscure Marvel Comic character to be brought to life in the hope that your kids will sit pliantly in front of the screen.  Check out the reviews first; generally speaking, a well-reviewed action-adventure flick will be more likely to please both children and adults.  Also, be sure that the film in question is not too intense for younger children; Back To The Future won't be a problem, but The Dark Knight may be, no matter how badly your seven-year old may want to see it.

DOCUMENTARY:  Surprisingly, you may find that your children enjoy this genre.  The trend toward reality television already has many accustomed to a less fiction-oriented approach, and documentaries offer a chance to learn and expand knowledge in a way that the trash which passes for usual reality TV fare cannot. The Discovery Channel is still a good source for many nature documentaries, while National Geographic features spotlights on exotic locations around the globe.  Many episodes from these channels are also available online, so if you have a tablet hookup to your screen, you can watch many of these commercial-free.  It's all about what your child is exposed to: give them a chance to like quality fare, and you may be surprised at how they take to it.  Besides, if they don't want to see a documentary, there's always the other options presented here.

MISCELLANEOUS TREASURES: Although many people are trained to think of family viewing in terms of Disney animation of fantasy/sci-fi action adventure, the truth is that many of the best family films fall outside of these categories.  For example, last year's Oscar-winning 3-D fantasia Life Of Pi--with its unusual metaphorical tale of a man stuck on a lifeboat with a tiger in the middle of the ocean--gripped both children and adults alike.  Another film which did well at the Academy Awards was 2002's Whale Rider, an uplifting tale of spirit that somehow avoided the treacly feel-good cliches that often permeate family viewing.  Among older films, The Black Stallion fulfills a similar purpose.

Many children these days, their minds programmed to an ADD frenzy by video games and ultra-fast scene cuts in film, will complain that older films are too "slow".  However, it is important to realize that what they are perceiving is the result of what has been put into their minds over time; when you give them a wide arrange of options to choose from at an early age, you may find that you end up avoiding many of the attention development problems that seem to be increasing in our society.  So, shake it up!  Put on a film from each of these categories in turn, older ones and newer ones, and always listen to the feedback your child gives you.   The rewards will be priceless.

The Turino

When you design a home theater, whether you're opting for jaw-dropping grandiloquence or a modest, comfortable space in which to watch movies, the seats you choose will always be a central centerpiece to the action.  As the centerpiece, the stylistic design of the chair is of utmost importance.  Think about it: the eye always catches first, what the body will feel later.  Choose the wrong theater seat to match your decor, and it won't matter how comfortable the chair or how convenient its features; it will stay an unavoidable eyesore to anyone entering the room, be it friends, family, or loved ones. When looking for the right design, you'll want something which will match with your surroundings, yet still be able to stand out as a unique, appealing design.  Not an easy task--but the new Turino from Seatcraft will fit that bill perfectly.

The Turino is a striking new model which combines art-deco individualism, futuristic savvy, and a smooth contemporary finish into one of the best looking theater seats you'll find anywhere.  The seat's gently curved armrests will immediately catch one's attention.  These armrests curve back, leaving a wide space between the armrest and the seat bottom itself, a feature which immediately stands out.  At the same time, the clean lines and smooth polish of the Turino lend it an elegant grace that allows it to be matched with any number of home theater design setups.  Plush, overstuffed headrests complete the picture, which provides its own curved look to both complement and offset the curve of the armrests.

The Turino is about more than just looks, however.  This seat is a part of Seatcraft's prized Leather 7000 series, which offers the highest quality leather at a terrific value.  Leather 7000 is hand-selected from only the top 30% of outer hides, ensuring a material that offers premium texture, softness, durability, and support. The hides are then carefully buffed to remove imperfections and polished to a bright, inviting sheen. Leather, of course, is renowned for its exceptional look, constitution, pliancy, and ease of maintenance.  Simply apply a damp cloth once a week to keep your chairs looking better than ever, and this leather will actually improve in both texture and appearance over time.

The features of the Turino enhance its commitment to comfort.  Padded headrests and a chaiselounger footrest provide full support from head to toe.  Wall-hugger seating allows the seat to sit three inches from the wall even in full recline, for those looking to maximize space efficiency in their home theater.  LED lighted cupholders and ambient base lighting provide a softly radiant contrast to the seat's design, accenting its highlight curves for maneuverability in the dark.  For further details on this outstanding chair, please check out our Youtube video of the Turino, which points out each of these features in turn.

5 Cult Films For The Summer

Tired of the watching the same formula flicks over and over again?  Looking for something more offbeat, quirky, and fun to surprise guests for a night at the movies?  With cinema, there's a century of brilliance to choose from, and most of it lies beyond the radar of the Hollywood production machine.  Certain films over the years have become indelible cult favorites, gathering an audience on the strength of their unusual storylines and colorful characters, rather than big-budget special effects.  If you're looking for a great way to add some spice to your summer movie viewing, here's five recommendations for films that will be sure to fit the bill:

SUNSET BOULEVARD, 1950.  The original proto-goth cult classic follows the exploits of a young writer who is inadvertently sucked into the world of a fading silent-screen actress who refuses to let him go.  This darkly comic Billy Wilder masterpiece is full of iconic scenes and eminently quotable lines, and although over 60 years old, its portrait of the seedy underbelly of Hollywood glamour is as prescient today as it was during the Golden Age of cinema.  Sunset Boulevard is a film which rewards repeat viewings and is frequently ranked in critic's lists among the all-time greatest films ever made.

ZARDOZ, 1974.  This little-known Sean Connery film has inspired a zealous cult fanbase that has taken to its far-out sci-fi premise, post-psychedelic visual scheme, and Monty Python-esque touches of humor.   The beguiling story takes place in a future world where a segment of humanity has walled itself off from the rest, which has degenerated into brutality.  One of the brutals finds his way into the hi-tech, psychically advanced world of the Eternals and a kaleidoscope of visually stunning setpieces ensues.  The sight of Connery running around in what looks like a giant red diaper is worth the price of admission, alone!

ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA, 1983.  Sergio Leone's attempt to outdo The Godfather actually does outstrip its inspiration in many ways.  Robert DeNiro and James Woods give stunning performances as two gangsters who grow up from childhood in the streets of New York City, forming a bond together that is eventually broken through betrayal.  This lavish epic, filled with incredible cinematography, was tragically cut to under two hours for its original theatrical release, where it performed poorly at the box office.  Only when the nearly four-hour director's cut was released to video was the true splendor of this sensitive and heartfelt (yet action-packed) mobster epic fully revealed.  Don't let the extreme length fool you--this film is worth every second and will pass by in no time.

REPO MAN, 1984.  One of the ultimate cult films stars a young Emilio Estevez as a young punk recruited into the strange world of car repossession.  The exploits and adventures which ensue are bound together by a mysterious glowing car trunk, an idea which Quentin Tarantino shamelessly borrowed for his own cult classic Pulp Fiction.  It's a hoot from start to finish, a wild ride through the streets of LA that combines humor and action with plenty of requisite cult weirdness.

PULP FICTION, 1994.  A cult film that became so famous it crossed over to mainstream success, Pulp Fiction is an homage to the whole idea of the cult film itself, from its Repo Man reference on down.  The movie relies on quotable dialogue and intertwining storylines to weave a dense and bizarre tapestry of life in LA that expands on earlier flicks about the city, while adding in the postmodern touches that Tarantino is so famous for.  The soundtrack alone--a feast of 70s funk and soul classics--will brighten any night at the movies.  This film was designed with the idea that people would be dancing to the twist and talking about the French quarter pounder with cheese for decades to come.  See if you can spot all of the dozens of film references peppered throughout, without resorting to Wikipedia first!

The Aston

4seating is proud to showcase the latest in Seatcraft's Signature series of home theater seats, The Aston.  This chair features a streamlined contemporary design topped by a smooth, polished finish, that retains a sense of casual comfort.  Seatcraft is aware that with modern living comes modern expectations, which is why this chair is loaded with convenient features that include wall-hugger seating, chaiselounger footrests, included tray tables, in-arm storage, lighted cup holders, and ambient base lighting.  The Aston is also made from Leather 7000, a luxury material that is the finest the theater seat market has to offer.  The combination of elements is what makes this an ideal chair for any guest, or perhaps for a quiet evening spent alone.

The Aston's design is instantly appealing, with its smooth outer skin and gently curved armrests.  This contemporary, urban sophistication is matched by an option of strong black or cognac color choices whose deep shades will blend seamlessly with any decor.  The swank look of the Aston is enhanced by Leather 7000 material, which is specially crafted to look as luxurious as it feels.  This special top-grain leather is of the highest quality, painstakingly hand-picked from the top 30% of all outer cowhides to represent the best that leather has to offer. The material is then buffed to remove inconsistencies in color and texture to create the sleek, sophisticated look of the Aston.  This tough, durable, yet supple material will naturally conform to your body's contour while offering full support.  It is easy to maintain with nothing more than a damp cloth, and actually improves in texture and appearance over time.  With Leather 7000, you will be investing in a chair that will provide increased comfort and appeal for years to come.

The commitment to comfort extends to this theater seat's many features.  For those looking to maximize space in their home theater, the Aston was designed with a special "wall-hugger" seating that allows it sit inches from any wall, even in full recline.  Padded headrests sustain support for the head and shoulders, while chaiselounger footrests ensure that the lower body is fully covered.  Polished tray tables keep food, magazines, cell phones, tablets and other items within a convenient arm's reach, and can be easily removed when not in use.  Hidden in-arm storage compartments provide plenty of space to store any items for the future.

In addition to these features, the Aston comes equipped with lighted cupholders and ambient base lighting, which combine to accent the seat's darkly hued material with a beautiful azure glow. This lighting contributes to the authentic marquee appeal of the seat, while providing an unobtrusive means of seeing in the dark.  When you invest in a home theater seat, you don't just want something that you can sit on comfortably to see the screen; you want a signature item that will provide just the right aura to complement the magic of a night out at the movies.  The Aston, with its refined look and opulent material, is that seat.

On Home Theater Decor, Part Two

In the first part of our series, we took a look at how home theater decor could be transformed by acoustic wall paneling, wall accents, and wall columns.  This part will further examine the curtains, stages, and risers which will provide the backbone to your home theater and complete a full sense of cinematic ambience.  With these additions, you will inspire the awestruck admiration of any guest!

If one desires a true replication of every detail of the movie theater experience, then cinema curtains are a must. These curtains will frame your TV or plasma screen and provide a dramatic backdrop to any evening's entertainment, no matter what's playing. 4seating offers these curtains in three different styles: standard, deluxe, and contemporary. Each curtain consists of a valence with two side trim curtains and two further accent curtains, and can be individually customized from a wide selection of colors and two fine materials (fabric and suede).  Curtains can also be custom-tailored to the size of your screen.  Each of the three styles is distinct, and you can get a sense of their differences by visiting our theater curtain page.  There's no better way to enhance the sense of excitement and thrill of a night out at the movies, than by having a set of curtains open up to display the main feature.

If you're looking to include several rows of seats in your home theater, then you will need theater risers to make sure and provide a clear view for those in the back rows.  4seating manufactures the most durable and attractive risers on the market, crafted out of hardwood and covered in rich black carpeting on the sides and top.  These 7" high front risers and 14" high back risers are easy to install and will ensure enjoyment from everyone in the room.  For the 14" risers, an optional riser step is also available for safe, easy access.  As with all theater decor accessories, these risers come in pre-built sizes but can also be custom-tailored to your required size.  With the addition of these risers, you can add additional rows to your home theater and be able to entertain a party of guests!

Finally, 4seating offers numerous full theater stage packages that come complete with curtains. These stages serve the dual function of providing a spectacular and authentic movie theater look for your screen, while at the same time discreetly hiding audio speakers so that they are heard and not seen.  The overall presentation will stun and delight friends and family.  Choose from eight distinct and equally epic styles, according to your taste.  The stage itself can be utilized for more than a simple accent for your TV screen--children's plays, karaoke nights, and more can all be held on its durable, handsome floors.  As usual, each package is available in a variety of materials and colors and can be custom-built to your specification.  With the addition of a stage, curtains, and risers to your theater, you will be transported right out of your home and back to the days when entertainment was a special, memorable experience to be cherished with others.
